Tennis player at the US Open who insulted a ball girl apologises for his "awful" attitude

Putintseva, who lost to Wimbledon runner-up Jasmine Paolini at Flushing Meadows in the third round, oddly vented her resentment on an innocent girl.

As the little girl did her duty perfectly and tossed balls to Putintseva before she took her serve, a dramatic scene broke out with Putintseva down 4-2 and a set.

However, there were several really uncomfortable and unpleasant moments where Putintseva chose to gaze the girl down

while keeping her arms at her side in an extremely frightening manner, making no move to capture or pick her up.

The Kazakhstani player, who was born in Russia, received harsh criticism for her conduct right away on social media. One tennis fan referred to her as a "nasty person," while another said that the ball lady "should've taken the ball and thrown it Putintseva's face."

Now, she has released a statement. With an apology uploaded on social media, the tennis star said, "I want to apologise to the ball girl for the way I was, when she was giving me balls.

‘Honestly speaking it was not about her. I was really p***** off at myself for not winning the game from the break point. ‘Then I got empty with my emotions and so deep in my thoughts, that I was not even focusing on what’s going on and who gives me the ball.
